It was autumn and the smell of dead or dying leaves was in the crisp air. That meant it was time for the grape harvesting, or les vendanges as it was called, to begin. It was a lot of work but work that was well worth it once the masters set to the task of transforming the harvest into the deep red wines that he so loved.
